Why Do Free Presbyterians Get Involved In Controversy

Let me say first of all, that Free Presbyterians  would rather it did not have to be that way. What do I mean ? Well, it  would be better if things were such that there was no  NEED to protest or be involved in controversy ! Far better that no-one taught these heresies and false doctrines. But, (it being the case that there IS a need), the Free Presbyterian Church does not shy away from its responsibility - the defence of the Gospel, and the faith. 

As outlined in a previous question, if men stand up and deny the Authority of the Bible, deny the Trinity, deny  the Virgin Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, deny His Bodily Resurrection, deny the one and only way of Salvation - then what should we do ? Say nothing ?

" Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 1:3)

Listen, if someone attacked  a person whom  you loved, would you not be quick to defend them ?  And what, then, of the Lord Jesus Christ ? Are we not grieved when men attack His Person, and try to explain away all that He taught and did ?

Humbly, but boldly, let us then say:

"I'm not ashamed to own my Lord,
Nor to defend His Cause.
Maintain the Honour of His Word,
Tthe Glory of His Cross.”
